Wathmuok Payam level community consultative and advocacy workshop for developing a local policy on cattle migration and thefts was successfully conducted on 29th of April 2022.
In Aweil South County, Community Initiative for Partnership and Development (CIPAD) with financial and technical support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)’ and Sweden has successfully conducted Wathmuok Payam Level community consultative and advocacy workshop for developing a local policy on cattle migration and thefts on 29th of April 2022. The event was attended by 20 ( 07 females).
Among the issues discussed in both plenary and groups included problems caused by cattle migration, migration routes, migration periods/cycles, suggestion of solutions to migration problems, need for a local migration policy, and recommendations on how the cattle migration can be regulated.
At the end of the workshop, participant productively agreed that development of a local policy is a common solution to the problems caused by cattle migration and went further to develop their recommendations on how cattle migration can be regulated by Northern Bahr El Ghazal State government.
