Community Initiative for Partnership and Development (CIPAD) is an independent South Sudanese national nongovernmental/civil society organization that is nonprofit, non-partisan, neutral, anti-discrimination, and committed to humanitarian and development work across the country in both rural and urban setting. We integrate conflict and genders sensitivity approach in our programming in order to minimize the risk of doing harms, but actively contribute toward building a positive peace.
CIPAD is envisioned to see a society that is fair, resilient, developed, and self-reliant by working to influence policies, actions, and partnerships that enhance the provision of services, resources, and protections of vulnerable people in order to promote peace, security and sustainable development in the communities.
We work in the thematic areas of food security and livelihood; water, hygiene and sanitation; health & nutrition; peace and security; human rights; child protection; women & youth economic empowerment or community resilience; peacebuilding; rule of law & access to justice; natural resources and climate; community security & community policing; women peace and security; education; relief and emergency community support.
Community Initiative for Partnership and Development (CIPAD) adheres and works within the core humanitarian principles to identify the people who are most in need of assistance and protection. We then use the principles to gain access to them, through negotiations with communities, parties to the conflict, local authorities and relevant stakeholders.
- In order to save lives, alleviate suffering and maintain human dignity during and in the aftermath of man-made crises and natural disasters, as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situations, CIPAD principally works within the thematic areas to:
- Prevent and alleviate suffering wherever it may be found;
- Protect life, health and to ensure respect for the human being;
- Carry out humanitarian action without discrimination, to relieve suffering, giving priority to the most urgent cases of distress;
- Remain independent from political, economic, military or other non-humanitarian objectives;
- Abstain from taking sides in hostilities; and
- Refrain from engagement in political, racial or ideological debates and controversies.
- In order to promote and safeguard sustainable development in the community by improving skills, enhancing empowerment and socio-economic status of the impoverished communities, CIPAD works with it thematic areas to improve the quality of life and sense of community in a place whereby the community plays an active role in partnership with government and development partners. This is based on the principle that communities have the right to shape their own development and that participation and contribution to this process builds a sense of ownership and pride in the community.
