1. Empowering Communities through Inclusive PSEA Awareness and Reporting Mechanisms

Description: Strengthening community protection against sexual exploitation and abuse (SEA) through inclusive awareness, training of aid workers, leaders, and volunteers, focus group discussions, and safe reporting tools.
Location: Aweil East, West, North, South, and Center Counties, Northern Bahr El Ghazal State.

2. Trauma Awareness with Refugees and Returnees in Northern Bahr El Ghazal

Donor: DT Global – USAID’s Shejeh Salam Program
Description: Promotes trauma awareness and psychosocial support through targeted community trainings, psychosocial support groups establishments and capacity building, community therapy campaigns, and radio talk shows.
Location: Aweil West County, and Aweil East County.

3. Creating Sustainable Community Foundations through Microgrants Support Initiatives

Duration: 1 Nov 2024 – 30 Sept 2025 (Completed)

Description: Economic empowerment of community groups through microgrants, business training, enterprise assessments, and mentoring for sustainability.

4. Peace and Community Cohesion (PaCC) Phase III

Description: Building community cohesion and trauma healing through consultations, psychosocial volunteer networks, retreats, and trauma awareness for leaders.

5. Support to Victims of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State

Description: Providing psychosocial support, livelihood assistance, and awareness for SEA survivors; vocational trainings, community psychosocial support groups.

6. Peace and Community Cohesion (PaCC) Phase II

Description: Economic empowerment for GBV survivors, local peacebuilding dialogues, seasonal cattle migration peace meetings, Gender Mainstreaming in Security Sector Reforms, and trauma awareness training.

7. Developing Capacity for Improved Performance Project – Phase I

Description: Strengthening child protection systems through advocacy dialogues trainings, radio programs, and stakeholder trainings on the South Sudan Child Act.
Location: Aweil Centre County.

Description: Promoting peace between security forces and civilians, gender mainstreaming in security sector reforms, trauma healing, GBV survivor support, and local interdependency peace initiatives.

9. Peace and Resilience Project

Description: Conducting community peace dialogues, GBV and conflict management trainings, and establishing Community Action Groups (CAGs)/Police Community Relations Committees (PCRCs), capacity building support, supported & implemented various community action plans through seed funds initiatives.

10. Contributing to Poverty Reduction through Community Security and Peacebuilding

Description: Supporting local peace structures (Local Peace Committees, and Police Community Relations Committees (PCRCs)), gender and conflict sensitivity trainings, trauma awareness, supported & implemented various community action plans through seed funds initiatives and intercommunal dialogues and reconciliations for peace.

11. Peace and Community Cohesion (PaCC) Phase I

Description: Raised awareness on child rights, child protection, and early marriage prevention through community and media engagement.

20. Community-Led Improved Food Security Project (CLIP)

Description: Supported women with seeds, tools, and training in vegetable gardening and basic business management for improved livelihoods.

21. Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS) Project

Duration: 1 Feb 2010 – 31 Jan 2011
Donor: SNV
Description: Implemented CLTS approaches to eliminate open defecation, install community latrines, and improve sanitation practices.
Location: Aweil West and Centre Counties.

Summary:

CIPAD has implemented over 20 humanitarian and development projects since 2010 across Northern Bahr El Ghazal State, focusing on peacebuilding, trauma healing, child protection, GBV response, community empowerment, sanitation, health, education, food security, and livelihoods supported by partners including UNDP, USAID, ICVA, SSHF, Saferworld, SNV, Pact South Sudan, and the UN.
