CIPAD Project Team Organized Three (3) Community Meetings for Sexual Gender Based Violence Awareness resulting to the formation of three Community Psychosocial Support Groups in Wanjok, Akuem and Majak-Goi.
In March 2020, Community Initiative for Partnership and Development famously known as CIPAD, with financial and technical support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under Government of Sweden funded Peace and Community Cohesion (PaCC) Project created Sexual Gender Baes Violence awareness and formed Community Psychosocial Support Groups in Wanjok on 2nd March 2020 and 3rd of March Akuem in Aweil East County; Apada in Aweil Center County and 6th March 2020 Majak-Goi in Aweil South County in Northern Bahr El Ghazal State. Each group composed of thirty (30) community members willing to support others.
Their mandate is to identify, counsel, report and support the victims of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in their respective communities. They will be helping the victims to access available services through the available GBV referral pathways. Their roles will also lead to documentation of GBV cases and subsequent reduction of GBV cases in their communities.
The next activity is to train them on their roles and responsibilities as community volunteers working to support the victims of the violence of different forms that exists in the community. The groups composed of representatives of women, youth, chiefs, elders, community health workers etc.
