In Aweil East County, Yargot Payam Level Community Consultative and Advocacy Workshop on Seasonal Cattle Migration Policy is Magnificently Conducted
On 23rd of April 2022, Community Initiative for partnership and Development (CIPAD) in response to identified cattle migration conflict drivers, has conducted Yargot Payam Level Community Consultative and Advocacy Workshop on the development of a local policy for cattle migration and thefts held at Akuem Boma in Aweil East County.
The consultation workshop attended by 21 ( 9 females) has significantly enabled participants from various institutions and groups constructively identify cattle migration actors, migration routes, migration consequences (bad and good) but largely took longer discussions on bad consequences that trigger conflicts, suggested solutions to identified migration problems, confirmed the community’s dire need for a local policy that aims to regulate cattle migration in order to address cattle migration problems in the community, and finally made recommendations on what should be included in the local policy on cattle migration.
This achievement was made possible through technically and financially support provided to CIPAD by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Sweden.
