CIPAD WITH SUPPORT FROM UNDP HAS SUPPLIED MALEK-ALEL GROUP OF GBV/TRUAMA SURVIVORS WITH LIVELIHOOD ITEMS ON 05TH JANUARY 2022, NYOC-AWANY PAYAM, AWEIL SOUTH COUNTY.
In order to empower trauma survivors (women and girls) through income generating activities so as to increase their income level as part of their economic recovery from trauma and create avenue of interaction and integration in the society in addition to support given to them by Community Psychosocial Support Groups in Malek-alel Boma of Nyoc-awany Payam in Aweil South County, Community Initiative for partnership and Development (CIPAD) with support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has provided to them livelihoods items which included bags of wheat flour, bags of maize flour, saucepans, water containers, trays (small and big sizes), plastic chairs, plastic tables, and plastic sheets.
The trauma and GBV survivors group supported composed of 20 (17 females) members. They expressed their happiness to UNDP with its donor and partner CIPAD for the support provided not only material support but also psychosocial support as well.
The handing over of the livelihood items meeting was attended by government officials from Ministry of Agriculture; Ministry of peacebuilding; Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare and Payam Administrator to witness the handing over and provide some encouraging remarks to the participants of which they did as required. Director from the Ministry of Agriculture encouraged the group to also do vegetable gardening and his Ministry will provide seeds to them free. Directors from other Ministries promised to provide regular supervision to the group for peaceful coexistence and sustainability purposes.
