AWEIL TOWN CONSULTATIVE AND ADVOCACY WORKSHOP ON SEASONAL MOVEMENT/MIGRATION OF CATTLE CONDUCTED IN AWEIL TOWN AT MAPER TEACHERS TRAINING INSTITUTE ON 27th/ AUGUST/ 2021
To strengthen peaceful co-existence through advocating a local policy on cattle migration into Northern Bahr El Ghazal state, CIPAD with financial and technical support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), has conducted Aweil Town community consultative and advocacy workshop on seasonal movement/migration of cattle and cattle thefts in Malekalell on 27/08/ 2021. This activity is implemented to address the root causes of community conflicts which lay between injustice and lack of policy that regulate cattle migration and management of cattle theft issues.
30 (8 females) people consisting of Boma and Payam administrators, paramount chiefs, Executive and sub-chiefs, landlords, youth, county officials, State ministry of animal resources, and women leaders, representatives of joint border peace committee, cattle keepers, farmers and faith-based groups (Islam/ Christianity) attended the workshop. The workshop was supported by UNDP with funding from UN Peace-building funds and Government of Sweden.
