Aweil East County level community consultative and advocacy workshop for developing a local policy on cattle migration and thefts was successfully conducted on 28th of April 2022.
During Aweil East County level community consultative and advocacy workshop for developing a local policy on cattle migration and thefts held in Wanyjok attended by 20 (08 females) people, participants invited from different institutions and groups reiterated the need for the development of a local policy in order to regulate the cattle migration in Northern Bahr El Ghazal. The policy will absolutely resolve problems caused by cattle migrants from Sudan, we have really suffered in the hands of these cattle migrants with their problems, said Peter Makuach, member of County Paramount chiefs’ courts.
Participants in their plenary and groups’ discussions confirmed strategies with clear action plans made by Payams stakeholders during Payam level community consultative and advocacy workshops across the county. We have now consolidated Payams level strategies to become a county level document which will be presented to state level authorities to form a state level policy document that shall regulate the movement of cattle without problems, Mr. William Deng Mou, County Executive Director concluded his statement during workshop closing remarks.
