CIPAD Project Team Organized and facilitated four (4) trainings of four (4) Community Psychosocial Support Groups in Apada, Wanjok, Akuem and Majak-Goi.

April 2, 2020cipadadminNews

In March 2020, Community Initiative for Partnership and Development famously known as CIPAD, with financial and technical support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under Government of Sweden funded Peace and Community Cohesion (PaCC) Project organized four trainings of two days each for Community Psychosocial Support Groups from 16th-17th, 18th-19th, 20th-21st, and 23rd– 24th March, 2020 in Wanyjok, Akuem, Apada, and Majak-Goi respectively. Each of the trainings was attended by 30 members of Community Psychosocial Support Groups in every location making the total of 120 participants recorded for all the trainings.

The trainings delivered have

  1. equipped all members of Community Psychosocial Support Groups with skills and knowledge on Sexual Gender Based Violence, Psychosocial First Aid (PFA), Trauma and Healing.
  2. prepared members of Community Psychosocial Support Groups to work with full capacity in identifying, counselling, reporting and supporting the victims of Gender Base Violence (GBV) in community.
  3. increased prevention and response measures of SGBV cases in the community through the trained members of Community Psychosocial Support Group

During those trainings, CIPAD staffs were being partnered by local and traditional authorities who were happy with initiative; therefore, they were playing commendable roles to facilitate any process that would pave the way for the trainings to end amicably. Not only that, but those local and traditional leaders in persons of Executive chiefs, Sub-chiefs, County Executive Director, Payam and Boma Administrators were willingly embracing the idea of being trained on PFA such that they also participate in curbing GBV these rampant GBV cases in their communities, henceforth, they were expressing their willingness to commit themselves in order to voluntary work their other PSS colleagues for furthering the aim of minimizing and eradicating  GBV cases in their communities.

CIPAD thanks United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Government of Sweden for the tremendous support.
